Who We Are

Faith Methodist Church is part of the Trinity Annual Conference (TRAC, 21 English-speaking churches) under The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS). MCS is headed by the Bishop of The Methodist Church in Singapore, the current serving Bishop being Rev Dr Gordon Wong.

MCS also heads the Chinese Annual Conference (CAC, 17 churches) and Emmanuel Tamil Annual Conference (ETAC, 9 churches). To find out more about MCS, visit their website at methodist.org.sg.

Faith Methodist Church was founded in 1966 as a Methodist Chapel to serve the residents of Queenstown. Back then, worship services were conducted in open air and later, a temporary shed.

In 1967, Faith’s founding Pastor, the late Rev T.C. Nga and his team saw to the completion of Faith’s church building, which we have since shared with Queenstown Chinese Methodist Church. Faith Methodist Church was named in honour of God’s faithfulness throughout the project, and in memory of Faith Goh, the only daughter of Dr Goh  & Mrs Goh Kok Kee, who were gracious donors to the church building fund.

Through God’s faithfulness, Faith’s membership grew and the church facilities became inadequate to meet her congregational needs. The church building was then redeveloped from 2002 – 2003.

Today, the church building houses a 1000-seat Sanctuary, 800-seat Worship Hall, and various ministry spaces, as well as a kindergarten, library, columbarium, and two parking floors. The building is also equipped with lifts and ramps to cater to seniors and the mobility-challenged. From her 38 attendees in 1966, Faith is now a congregation some 2,500 strong.

Outside her walls, community outreach and missions is at the heart of Faith, from the setting up of Lakeside Family Centre (now Lakeside Family Services), Jurong Preaching Point (now Agape Methodist Church) , and community service agency FaithActs, to active involvement in international missions. By God’s grace, Faith is still transforming lives and changing the world for Him after more than five decades.

Our statement of faith can be found in the Nicene Creed:

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

“Transforming Lives, Changing The World”

Faith’s Vision is “Transforming Lives, Changing The World”. We are a community whose lives are being transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and who go on to transform the lives of the people in our spheres of influence, in the community, and in the regions beyond.

A transformed life is one that is fully growing in F.A.I.T.H. A changed world is one where everyone is living a transformed life and experiencing a real presence of the kingdom of God in their lives.

Faith Methodist Church

We will be a church family of Small Groups where every member accepts, affirms, loves and cares for one another in a Small Group. We will see a need and meet it, and find a hurt and heal it.

We will be a church family gathered for Sunday worship services to hear God’s Word and express our love for Him through songs, prayers, and giving. Culturally-sensitive and relevant, our worship services are God-encountering moments for both Christians and those who have yet to know Jesus.

We will be a church family that serves others according to our God-given SHAPE (Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences), both in our Small Groups and the Church.

We will be a church family with growing Christ-like leaders of influence in the church and the world. These leaders are fully growing in F.A.I.T.H and not only influence others to follow Jesus, but also usher in the kingdom of God wherever they are.

We will be a church family that witnesses to the love of Jesus with the people in our spheres of influence, in the community, and in the regions beyond.
