Bringing People to Jesus through the Alpha Course

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a global crisis for mental health, fuelling short- and long-term stresses and undermining the mental health of millions. According to the WHO World Mental Health report last year, depression and anxiety rose 25% in the first year of the pandemic, bringing the total number of people living with a mental disorder to nearly 1 billion people. About one in eight people in the world live with a mental disorder.  This alarming number reveals that many people around us live in darkness and need hope in their lives.

How can we respond as God’s church to reach out and bring light to them? It is by sharing the good news with them! The good news is Jesus said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

One safe way to share the good news is by volunteering as a facilitator in the Alpha course. The Alpha course is a good evangelism tool for people who want to explore the Christian faith in a friendly and safe space for conversation. We invite you to be equipped as Alpha facilitators for this upcoming course in April.

In this training, you will learn:

  1. How the Alpha course can be an effective evangelism tool
  2. Tips on facilitating the discussion effectively
  3. How building friendship with non-Christians is the key to reaching out
  4. The direction of the post-Alpha group
